Planning your Fishing Trip by Species
One of the first steps in planning a trip with us is to consider the species of fish you would prefer to target. When you visit our lodge determines what species of fish will be available. Reviewing our Alaska fishing and salmon run chart helps to map out your options. Our remote, clear-water river system receives strong runs of 5 Alaska salmon species each summer. Here is a breakdown of our historical peak fishing periods for all species available in our remote Alaska river system. As a general rule, fishing for northern pike and rainbow trout are consistent throughout the summer season. Salmon species enter our river system at different times of the summer as indicated on the calendar, 'run chart'. Our chart shows our absolute peak times for each species. Salmon do enter our river system typically a week earlier than the chart shows and are available a week later than the dates indicated as the chart shows our historical "peak seasons" only. There is considerable overlap of salmon runs in our river, making our fishery truly unique compared to many other rivers in Alaska.
Please keep up with Alaska fishing regulations as they are constantly changing. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game are constantly updating and changing regulations for each individual species meaning the ability to retain and/or fish for a particular species can be changed by the state at any time during the season. State regulatory updates called "emergency orders" supersede printed regulations. Please keep in the know as we do not have any insight nor control of emergency order regulations regarding fish species in our region. We encourage you to contact the Alaska Department of Fish and Game if you have any questions or concerns regarding state fishing regulations. Live updates to regulations for our area are only available online at this link: South-central Alaska fishing regulation updates. We hope this helps with your planning!
