4-Day / 3-Night Independence Day Bucket List Itinerary

Day 1 – Fly from Anchorage to Alaska Wilderness Lodge

Your Alaska Independence Day adventure begins with a scenic float plane flight departing Anchorage at approximately 10:30 AM. Fly roughly 70 miles northwest over Alaska’s vast wilderness with possible Denali views on clear days before arriving at Wilderness Place Lodge, a remote fly-in fishing and adventure lodge located along Alaska’s beautiful Lake Creek system.

After a fresh chef-prepared lunch at the lodge, spend the afternoon fishing Alaska’s pristine rivers and lakes with your personal guide. Depending on seasonal conditions and regulations, anglers may target rainbow trout, Arctic grayling, northern pike, or salmon species.

In the evening, relax in your private deluxe riverside cabin and enjoy a gourmet four-course dinner featuring locally inspired cuisine, local Alaska craft beer, and wine selections.

Day 2 – Guided Fishing & Remote Alaska Exploration

Enjoy a full flexible day of guided Alaska fishing and wilderness exploration. Customize your day with your guide based on your interests and fishing goals. Fish remote rivers, nearby lake chains, or simply enjoy the peaceful scenery and wildlife viewing opportunities surrounding the lodge.

Breakfast and lunch may be enjoyed either in the lodge or on the water, followed by another exceptional four-course dinner served in the main lodge dining room. Overnight accommodations remain in your private cabin.

Day 3 – Helicopter Glacier Adventure & Anchorage Overnight

Guests may choose optional morning fishing before departing the lodge around 11:45 AM via float plane back to Anchorage.

Upon arrival, guests are transferred to the Wildbirch Hotel before continuing north to the Alaska Glacier Lodge for an unforgettable helicopter glacier adventure with Alaska Helicopter Tours.

The featured “Grand Knik Glacier Helicopter & Photography Experience” includes:

  • Multiple glacier landings
  • Incredible aerial mountain and glacier views
  • Glacier hiking opportunities
  • Some of Alaska’s best wilderness photography locations

Following the helicopter tour, guests return to Anchorage for an overnight stay at the Wildbirch Hotel. The package also includes dinner and breakfast at the hotel restaurant.

Day 4 – Bear Viewing in Lake Clark National Park

Your final day features one of Alaska’s most iconic wildlife adventures: a guided brown bear viewing excursion to scenic Chinitna Bay inside Lake Clark National Park and Preserve.

Depart Anchorage by float plane with Rust’s Flying Service for an unforgettable coastal flightseeing journey along Alaska’s rugged coastline before landing in prime brown bear habitat.

Guests spend the day safely observing bears in their natural environment while enjoying spectacular mountain scenery, coastal landscapes, and world-class photography opportunities. Return flights arrive back in Anchorage around 1:30 PM, allowing for evening commercial departures or extended Alaska travel plans.
