The species you want to target determines when you should visit. Use our salmon run chart to plan your trip around peak fishing times for all five Pacific salmon species, rainbow trout, grayling, and northern pike.

One of the most exciting parts of planning your Wilderness Place Lodge trip is deciding which fish you want to chase. And because our fishery changes with the seasons, when you visit shapes everything about the experience.
Lake Creek receives strong, reliable runs of all five Pacific salmon species each summer — an uncommon distinction that sets our river apart. Add consistent rainbow trout and northern pike fishing from opening to close, and you have one of the most diverse freshwater fisheries in the state.
Our Alaska Fishing & Salmon Run Chart is the best place to start your planning. It maps out historical peak seasons by species so you can align your dates with your goals. A couple of helpful notes on how to read it:
Alaska’s fishing regulations are dynamic. The Alaska Department of Fish & Game can issue emergency orders at any time that modify or close fishing for specific species — and these supersede any printed regulations.
We stay as informed as we can, but emergency orders are outside our control and often issued without advance notice. Before your trip — and during it — we recommend checking the official live regulation updates for our area: South-central Alaska Fishing Regulation Updates. When in doubt, reach out directly to ADF&G. A quick call can save a lot of confusion on the water.
No two groups are alike, and cookie-cutter trips aren't our style. We take the time to understand what you're looking for and tailor every detail of your stay to match.
